so i finished my new build and after connecting everything and booting all seemed well for the first few weeks.

until i tried to conect a headset in the front panel. there is no sound and the jack doesnt seem to be connected at all. also the case has 2Xusb2 ports and 2Xusb3 ports in the front and even though the usb3 ports work fine the usb2 ports dont. the weird thing is that one doesnt work at all and the other whenever i connect something (like a usb stick) the audio manager pops up and prompts me to choose what i connected (mic, headset etc).

i have connected the HD audio connector of the case to the front panel audio connector (10-1 pin AFFP) of the mobo and the 2 usb cables of the case to the mobo's usb2 connectors (10-1 pin USB1112; USB1314).

i have completely no idea how to fix it or whats wrong.

yes im 100% sure. there is a cable saying HD audio coming from the case that is connected to the front panel audio connector of the mobo. i just checked.

EDIT: also the two other cables(that say usb on them) are for the card reader that is on the front and the second one for the 2 usb2 ports. both of them are connected to the usb2 connectors of the mobo and none is working. except for that usb2 port that gets recognised as an audio device no matter what i connect to it.

did it. nothing changed. what i noticed is that in the realtek audio manager the speaker port is highlighted (which is normal since my speakers are connected) and the headphone port is not highlighted. even if I connect headphones. Also i tried with different headphones and still the same. plus the usb2 ports in the front still dont work.

the audio works fine in the rear i/o. there is no headphone jack on the back. just the green jack that my speakers are connected to.

something that just came to my mind. all those cables (hd audio, usb2) are the same 10-1pin. maybe there is some production fault in the case and they are wrong labeled? and maybe thats why whenever i connect something to the usb2 port i get the notification that i connected something to the jack port. if thats the case should i try reversing them or something? or will that destroy something with the mobo?

EDIT: but still if thats the case there are 3 cables and two of those go to either of two ports. so even if they were wrong labeled one of the three should work (the card reader or the usb ports should). but none does.

ok, so first of all. what I said about the cables being mislabeled was wrong cause even though all of them are 10-1 pin the HD audio cable has the one pin in a different place. so i started tracing the cables back to the front panel module with the ubs and audio jacks. it was a pain in the *** to reach it and after i almost completely took apart the case and even removed the pcb from the module the audio and usb headers were too close to eachother to tell which went were. so i traced the wiring of the pcb (lol) and it proved that the headers in that side of the cable were identical and were reversed. the hd audio went to the usb2 ports and the usb2 cable went to the audio jacks. so i put them to their right place and everything worked fine.
the weird thing is that the card reader started working too even though i didnt mess with it and its an entirely different cable, but im fine with that.

also I want to add that this was a manufacturing fault of the case and a ridiculous one too. But now that everything is sorted out I still love that case.
