I'm going to be building a newPC for around 700 dollars, and I'm not sure whether I should wait for the pentium, or go with the AMD FX. I'm going to be using my computer for gaming, screen recording, and game designing (at a hobbyist level). I'm also very big on upgradability. Do you guys think that the pentium would be better for my situation with it being able to upgrade to the better intel i5s without having to buy a new MoBo, and its great overclocking ability or the AMD FX 6300 with more cores for multi cored processes and games, but only being able to clock up to around 4.3 ghz and also being stuck with amd?

Solution
If you're gonna use it productivity and multitasking the G3258 won't cut it(but in games, it performs well), even though it has powerful cores than the fx 2 cores and 2 threads won't keep up. I suggest you pick the FX6300 since it will be faster in productivity than the Pentium. But if you plan in upgrading later for an i5, I highly recommend to ditch the Pentium and save up for the i5 so no money would be wasted.

Just an info, you will need an aftermarket cooler for the fx6300(overclocking or not) and stock hsf for a locked i5 would suffice.

Do you think I should skimp out on my graphics card and get an i5, because I would easily be able to buy a new one at a later date?

You can use the integrated graphics of the i5 in the mean time since you said that you'll buy one later. FX6300 is more comparable to i3 in most games(currently). Good luck with your build and Happy Gaming!
