I have applied thermal paste several times but it keeps overheating. So here's how I applied this time:
Opened Toshiba Portege A600 till I can see CPU and cleaned old paste:
This seems problem to me. On heat sink there's a foam/rubber like thing that is teared apart because of again and again applying. Why Toshiba used this thing? Looks like poor conductor to me.
Applied new paste:
And closed it:
Temp at first boot:
Started Counter Strike source, played for LESS than 2 mins and game started lagging as usually and reached this temp:
What is THRM?
This laptop was able to run these stuff without any lagging when new. But now it isn't performing like that because of heat that makes it underclock. What if I peel that grey rubber?
