I read in articles that WD caviar green makes more noise and consumes less power.
Does the noise affects the life span of the hdd and damages it?
please help need.
THANK YOU

The greens do consume less power, but that is because the speeds are throttled down. Your big difference between the two will probably windows loading times. I'd just go with a WD black drive. I have one and it is pretty quiet for a performance HDD. The power savings you will get by going with the green are going to be very, very small when it comes to your electric bill (think 1 cent per month).

i have 2 wd green 2tb and a 1tb black, and the greens are silent. the blacks make WAYYYYY more noise. the black shows in crystal disc marc that it is faster, about 180 mbs, while the greens are about 125. although, the black does not seem any faster in terms of gaming load times. i have games on both the green and black drives and the black does not feel any faster

Please dont use a green as your gaming drive. Sometimes they can cause issues because they will power themselves down to save energy requiring them to spin back up to deliver a file; which could inject a 5second lad spike in the midst of your game. Windows has no controler what-so-ever over this powersaving feature, its built into the drives firmware.
