So my laptop hdd is dead and need a new one.
I've seen 2 types, not sure which one to chose.
Both are 500GB and Sata 6gb/s

This HDD has 7200 RPM
WD5000BPKX

This SSHD has 5400RPM
ST500LM000

I've read that SSHD almost as fast are as SSD, but I don't know if a HDD with higher RPM will make a difference.

For the people who want to know wherefor I would use it: I use it for dayly usage, a bit of light games (eg minecraft, since I dont have a good gpu in my laptop) and as a server (minecraft, because I play with friends on my server).

the SSHD is 63 euro and the HDD is 51 euro, don't care that much about the price of these two (at least, I dont want a ssd since the storage will be about 128gb for the same price)

So which one should I get, and will a higher rpm get that much closer to a SSHD?

I would vote for the SSHD, is caches your most commonly used files on the SSD portion greatly increasing speed, you will notice that more than non SSHD drive at 7200 RPM.

Thanks, I also was looking more to the SSHD, but is it safe to defrag it since it also has flash memory?
And will it be safe to nuke it with DBAN with DoD 3x pass method? (I know you can screw up the hdd like I did with mine, used wrong wipe method)
I nuke my hdd sometimes when windows is doing crazy and I can not find a fix (and refreshing windows leaves crap behind and I like to have a clean disk)

It would be safe to defrag a SSHD as all the files are stores on the mechanical drive, DBAN should be safe as well, the cache will only cache hard drive read's and what you are reading the most, it will be unaffected by DBAN, when you defrag it you may confused the cache on what wants to be inside of the cache due to the large amount of read's but it will figure itself out.
