Does my CPU bottleneck my GPU?

Hi guys I have a ASUS radeon r9 280x GPU that I bought because I wanted to be able to play Battlefield 4 with max frames about ~60fps but I constantly get about 30fps it's really annoying.
I have a i5 2500k 3.3Ghz processor, 8gb ram, 850w PSU. And when I check my cpu usage when i play bf 4 it shows 50%? shouldn't it show 100%? my gpu has 47%. Is there any way to get my cpu to go 100% then and how?

Solution

280x is plenty powerful for 1080p, so that shouldn't be a problem (i thought you were playing on something like 1600p).

Try doing that and give us a feedback if it worked :D

Your CPU is plenty powerful, and it shouldn't bottleneck 280x. If i were you, i'd try this to get more FPS:

- OC that CPU, since it's a K version
- Install Mantle, since BF4 is Mantle optimized

Also, have you tried fiddling with the settings o_O
On what resolution are you playing?

Alright I'll try that, I'm on 1920x1080!

No, it doesn't. YOu can try overclocking your cpu and also installing mantle and updating bf4.

No problem, i'm glad i could help :D

But it's odd that you couldn't get 40-60 FPS for BF4 without Mantle, since 280x is equal to 770...

Oh well, if it works, all is well :D
