Evga gt 640 downlocks suddenly

So im playing some game lets say gta iv, and before i start to play, i launch evga precision x, and overclock a little bit( i usually just add 51 mhz on the clock speed and the memory i add 171mhz), and put the fan up to 70%, and when im playing(i cant really say when cuz it happens randomly) the fps get so low its terrible, its even worse if i dont overclock the gpu at all, i have to restart the computer so it will get back to normal, i dont know why this keeps happening, the gpu always did that, and i have my gpu for almos a year now, can some one plz help me with this bs plz?

Check your temperatures with hwmonitor, but understand that temperatures are not always reported correctly and do not always show up at all for some devices.

Use something like CPU-Z or another application of your choice to observe your CPU's clock speed. Throttling and power management can exhibit the same behavior, so do your best to determine, based on temperature, which you are observing.

Throttling is a term used to describe the act of down-clocking an integrated circuit to decrease power usage, heat generation, or both.
