Hi all, I've just bought a BenQ GL2460HM to use as my main monitor. It came with a VGA cable, but I have an issue that my GT 560 Ti has only 1 VGA input, and my second monitor doesn't have a DVI slot (Just VGA) So basically I am forced to use an old DVI cable for my new main screen monitor...to fit them both in.

So the setup is:

Both monitors attached to the back of GPU....new main one by DVI, and second monitor by VGA.

When I turn the system on the secondary monitor is booting on first while the main says no signal for a few seconds, then just as the desktop is coming on the main monitor says signal found and they switch to how I want it! Any idea how I can solve this so the main comes on first...I mean I can live with it how it is...but I'd obviously prefer it working as intended!

Thanks

This is normal, not sure of the entire reason, but probably because DVI is digital is has to negotiate with the monitor first, while analog just spits out data, which is why you see information on the analog display first.

So not an issue and nothing I can do?

Nothing you can do really, same thing happens to my dual monitor setup, analog comes on first displays the BIOS and what not while the DVI one is still trying to initialize, and usually gets setup late in the BIOS process.

Ah ok, and the DVI is much better quality yes? Could I get an adapter for the other monitor to make that go into the VGA also...or is that just a waste?

You wont see any difference between VAG and DVI, or at least I never have, my only issue with VGA is that the signal can be distorted by crosstalk from nearby power cables (if they are to close) creating wavy lines on the monitors screen if the VGA cable does not have adequate shielding

DVI is digital and should give you the best image.
So, use that for your main monitor.

In the bios, there may be a selection option as to where to display the initial bios display.
See if you can't change that to the dvi monitor.

Hiya, in BIOS it has the following options under Init Display First:

Auto (Current One)
IGFX
PEG
PCI

Should I change it from auto to one of the others?

Thanks

Leave it on Auto, this setting will allow you to choose the Intel Graphics (IGFX), a PCI card graphics (PCI), or what you have currently PCI-Express (PEG).

Don't bother.
Auto is directing boot to your pcie graphics card.
Once there, the card is using it's primary output.
If you want, you could swap where your monitors are connected.
Since all runs like you want after initialization, I would not bother.
