Hey I just built a pc and installed windows 7 on it. I plugged in my ethernet cable in my wifi box and my computer. But it is not giving me the option to connect to the internet. Any ideas why? Thanks

Solution
Run devmgmt.msc. Under Other devices, right-click on Ethernet Controller and select Update driver software or (install driver). A Windows driver search will pop up and click to choose "Browse my computer for driver software". Next, Click the Browse button and browse it to the Realtek extracted folder (earlier) and click Next (Please make sure the SELECT "Include subfolders")

After installed Windows 7 and successfully log into the desktop, you require to install the Motherboard drivers/chipset for its to function. The drivers CD should come with the motherboard, if not you can always locate the Motherboard brand/model and go to their website and download them. I suggest to install Network controller drivers first.

Your motherboard should have included a cd with drivers on it.
You need at least to install the drivers for your lan.
Probably best to install the other drivers too.
Do not be lazy and select install all or you will get a bunch of trialware.
Install drivers only.

I went to my motherboards website and installed these drivers on a usb and downloaded in on my computer. I didn't download
AMD all in 1 driver ver:12.3
CIR receiver driver ver:2.09.1007
AppCharger ver:1.0.6

What else do I need because I still can't connect to the internet

Can you do a check on the devices manager?
Click Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc
In the Device Manager console, locate Network Adapters and expand it. Tell us what do you have under Network adapters?
Also, look in the Device Manager console and see what other Unknown Devices are listing in there.

The reason I asked because you did not verify which/what drivers you installed.

This means you're Network controller drivers does not update/installed.

download Realtek Lan driver ver:7044
It is a zip file, after download right extract the file. Go to the extracted folder Realtek_Win7-64_Win7(7044)\LAN(7044) and run setup.exe. This should detect your network controller and install the drivers.

When I try to install the LAN driver it says the Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable.
