Hey everyone, first post here, and unfortunately not for the best reasons.

I have an i7 920, 6gb DDR 3, with an ATI HD4870 GDDR5 1GB and, as for the motherboard... I don't know. I tried to check it out but I couldn't. I bought this computer 5 or 6 years ago. In any case, it's a Gigabyte that is compatible with every component I've mentioned thus far.

Apparently, when someone tried to start a game, the computer ended up crashing, and, when we tried to turn it on again, windows didn't start normally - it only starts in safe mode, and the before mentioned artifacts are still showing up.

What do you think I should do? Do you think the graphics card or the motherboard is damaged? There's no way this can be solved with a BIOS update, right? (as in - it wouldn't make any sense).

Thank you!

Do you have the windows install disk? If you have the install disk you can try a windows start up repair by using it which version of windows do you have? and yes your links don't work so we can only give you ideas but sounds like the blue screen of death corrupted some files can you get into the bios and check save and reset the bios? something was corrupted in the crash either windows files or bios setup but it sounds like an operating system problem to me I have done install repairs for this kind of problem if you have the disk good luck.
