Can i connect a cpu and gpu with different psus

i have a friend who got a free gtx 260 he has a 350watt psu. can he connect his gpu with the 350w psu and ill give him my 300w psu and he will connect his cpu sata and motherboard connectors. bassicly he will have his computer open and one psu in the case and the other outside. i just want to know if that it possible. also maybe you can connect both of them with spliters for each port and have like 650w combined becuase when you power the pc on they both have to start up.

Can it be done? Yes. People have done 2 x PSUs in one PC.
Is it recommended? No. There is a large possibility of letting the magic smoke out.

It's possible, but you'd need one of these (unless you're comfortable with doing the wiring yourself) so that both of the PSUs will know when to turn on/off:

And as stated above, it's not very practical/safe.

thank you for the answers im not gonna do it because its not safe and im going to use a pentium 4 w/gtx 260 for my crappy pc that i will use with my tv
