Need some pointers to properly overclock my system

All I did was raise the clock speed to 4Ghz and adjusted the ram to 1600MHz but I want to do it properly but I don't really have any idea of what to really do. I know there's no absolute guide to overclock any combination of parts since no part is make 'exactly' the same and has the exact same tolerance but I'd like to get a better idea of what tolerance my system would have even if its just a guess. I'll list a full summary of what's in my computer. And if its relevant, my processor is a black edition though that's probably apparent and my motherboard's bios is unlocked.
