Hello everyone,
Today I turned on to my computer to here 6 beeps from the mother board. After that I believe that Either the BIOS tried to update itself or tried to restore itself. Either way it was unsuccessful because now whenever I turn on my computer It gives me the 6 beeps then no more information and the display does not start. I have a HP Pavilion 500-164 PC with a upgraded Graphics card inside. I need some Help!

More about : bios update computer start

I have had the video card in since November without any problems so that's not the problem. I havent tried cmos yet because I don"t know how to do that. Anyways I have no Idea why there was a bios update it just sort of did it. The rest of my specs are a AMD 6500 cpu @ 3.5GHz then 8 Gigs of RAM The card is a AMD 7850.

Did it ever work with the new card or did this start after the upgrade? You can try this: Unplug the system from the wall outlet; Remove the CMOS battery located on the MB; Wait 30 minutes; Re-install the battery; Plug the system back in and restart normally. This should reset the bios to default if that was the issue.

If it like you said it try to updated the bios, it mean all the settings been reset to default, just to be sure remove the card and boot with the integrated gpu.

already mentioned boot to on board. do the cmos reset see what happens..................... should see the jumper on the motherboard. might be near the lower right hand corner above where the front panel switched hook up........................ should be something printed on board................ just move jumper from one set of pins to the next/then move it right back to where it was................... or unplug machine.......... pull battery for a few minutes then replace that.... might work............
