Hello everyone,

2 months ago I purchased a new desktop computer and have encountered continual issues with it starting in the past week which has now ultimately lead to the computer crashing at startup every time.

In the past week I have been getting crashes with the error messages

IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal

Kernal_Security_Check_Failure

Bad_Pool_Header

PFN_List_Corrupt

In an attempt to stop these errors I used the windows diagnostics tool to reset the computer, which now continually crashes upon startup.

Can you suggest a course of action?

Specs if needed:
Windows 8.1
3.4GHz Intel i5 4670K 4-Core Processor (Turbo Speed 3.8GHz)
16GB of DDR3 1600MHz RAM
2000GB (2TB) Hard Drive Storage Space
nVidia Geforce GTX 760 2GB Super Advanced Dedicated Graphics Card
Gigabyte H81M-S2PV Motherboard & Drivers

Thank you

Upon next boot up please tap F8 repeatedly to go into safe mode. Once in, go to computer properties by right clicking "computer" and select system protection. Under that go to system restore. Find the last system restore point and revert to this point it time prior to your installation of the windows diagnostic tool that appears to have made things worse (select a date in time you are sure that was PRIOR to this event). It should place your computer back into it's last working status.

Just follow the steps to make sure you have no system image corruption. Then perform the update and see if issue persists or not. It's a lot of work but there aren't any better options I can recommend. Please keep us updated and good luck!

Hi jnewegger23,

I've tried booting in safe mode and it continues to crash. The windows Automatic repair tool does appear after a crash but I am unable to do any of the actions (Such as system restore) because it requires access to an administration account.

Update: I booted from CD which led me to an install windows screen. I attempted to reinstall it but was given an error message saying
'File may be corrupt or missing. Error code 0x80070570'

Subsequent attempts to start the computer have led to it no saying that there is no operating system detected.

At this point I would recommend contacting the manufacturer as it should be under warranty still. You may have a bad hard drive. There are tools to check that like mri but I don't want to have you spend money where you don't need to in case that's not the right diagnosis. Just a guess based on past experience. I would get a knowledgeable friend near you to come take a closer look if possible otherwise you may be at the mercy of a repair shop.
