Hi,

I have 4 memory sticks (RAM) which I have bought separately (2 in 1 pack and 2 in the other) but they will not work together on my Asus Maximus Vi Hero motherboard. The memory sticks are as follow:
* 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10)
* 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks (CMY8GX3M2A1600C9)
They are both from Corsair and have the same model name - Vengeance. Also when I test the 2 x 4 GB RAM sticks separately they work and when I put in the 2 x 8GB RAM sticks separately they also work but when I put them all in, I only receive that much memory from the RAM's placed in slot 1 and 2 of my motherboard. I don't understand why they don't all work together because they look the same and also have the same size. In addition there is no errors on slots 3 and 4 of my motherboard because they work when there is nothing placed in slots 1 and 2.

Best Regards
Spov

Well the new sticks have different capacity and latency when compared to the old ones so it might just be that those sticks won't work together. When you say test, do you mean you boot to Windows to check it or do you go to BIOS and check it there?

Hi Eduello,

By test I mean that I went into Windows and checked the RAM at my Computer. I also tested in the bios and like in Windows it only recognizes one set of RAM sticks..

It sure seems like an incompatibility issue between the sticks. What are is the latency/clock of the RAM set to in the BIOS? Try settings it to CL10 and 1600MHz and see if that helps.

You will need to set all the ram timings manually to the lower of the two sets. Your two 8GB sticks have a latency of 10, so that will be what you have to run to even have a chance at getting all 24GB.

Set your timings to match that under the "tech specs" tab.

Even then some motherboards still don't like l four slots fully populated with dual sided memory, not sure about the Hero, I only run two 8GB sticks.

Should be 8 , 16 , or 32 gb.

24 doesn't make sense.

Try with the 8GB sticks in slots 1-3 and the 4GB sticks in slots 2-4, then try and get to BIOS, if can't get to BIOS, then just with the 8GB sticks in 1 and 3, enable XMP and select profile 1 - then raise DRAM voltage to 1.56 and raise the CPUVTT voltage to 1.11, save, exit, shutdown and then add the 4 GB sticks
