Just curious about if its safe to OC my i5 2500k while using the stock intel cpu fan? I have a decent size case (antec illusion) with alot of room for airflow.

Also if OC might not be the wisest option using the intel fan...what about using the turbo boost?

Also if I should look into after market cooling options...what should I be looking at?

My mobo is intel BOXDH67BLB3 LGA 1155

thanks for help.

Definitely get an aftermarket cooler. You can try overclocking without one but you risk damaging your CPU. I've got the same 2500K. A Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus can be had for $30. A 212 Evo can be had for $35 and its a little better. I'm currently using a Corsair H100i. It depends on your budget.

Thanks for the info. I think I am going to get one for sure. One more question. What kind of performance gain am I looking at by overclocking from 3.3 ghz to say 4.0 or more?

If you're wondering what kind of performance increase in regards to FPS, maybe 5-10 depending if the game is CPU dependent or not.

the intel BOXDH67BLB3 LGA 1155 or H67 chipset doesn't suport bios overclocking

What about the turbo boost?

if the feature turbo in bios set enable , your CPU max at 3.8ghz only and that will work depend loading
