Hey there. I am looking for a new laptop. I am a hardcore gamer. I play for around 80% of the time that I am awake. I currently have a Lenovo y510p.
Specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: Dual NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M SLI
Disk Drive: 1 TB HDD

I am looking for a nice new laptop for under $1400. I have been looking at MSI and ASUS. I don't know what to get. Please help.

Isn't it a gaming laptop? I also own the same model with you with 755M SLI.

Yet, you said you are on budget less than 1400 USD. Trust me that you have the best PC for that money. Today, laptop prices are going up due to thickness. Not to performance. MSI GS60's are 2000 USd but they have GTX870M which performs as 755M SLI in FPS aspect. However, it is thin. For less than 1400, you can look ASUS N Series but they will have a single GT 750M, waaaay worse than yours. ASUS is selling its brand, not computer.

Best is keeping your laptop. However, you can check some pricey laptops below.

f you want a practical and thin, yet powerful PC regardless of price,
- New Razer Blade (GTX 870M - similar with 755M SLI) - 2200/2800 USD
- MSI GS60...

If you are OK with the thickness and weight,
- Alienware 18 with GTX 880M SLI - 3300 USD

Also, you could always use Maingear, Cyberpower etc. to customize your own for the money.

This particular laptop is likely to serve you well as long as you get the model with the discreet nvidia GPU: http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-17-7737/pd . it fits your budget snugly and exceeds your current performance by a wide margin. Beware though that gaming laptops have inferior heatsinks as compared to desktops for the amount of heat they produce and will likely not last as long as said desktop of equal performance.

This would be a total loss to have Dell Inspiron instead of Lenovo Y510P. That PC has i7-4510U at the best model and has GT 750M Single GPU. Lenovo Y510P has i7-4700QM and GT755M SLI in 1150 USD model. Also comparing the brand reliabilities, Lenovo is a far better choice.
