Hi. I have Windows 8.1 SL in my laptop. It is preloaded with metro apps and some Acer software and I don't want to lose them because I haven't use them yet. The problem is, I want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro then update it to update 1, are the apps gonna get unistalled? (eg Kindle, Evernote)

No. The update pack acts just like a regular Windows update except larger in scope (MS doesn't use the term Service Pack anymore but it acts like one). The Pro upgrade unlocks the features but doesn't remove anything.
