Approximate Purchase Date: over the next 3 months

Budget Range: $500 - $1000 USD

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies

Are you buying a monitor: Yes / a second smaller screen for other tasks, I will be using a 70” sharp tv using a HDMI connection as my primary.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I can order online and get parts locally at fry’s electronics

Location: washington, America

Parts Preferences: I want to keep the GPU I have selected. Built it around it and don’t want to bottle neck it too much.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe/ in a year or 2 when I need to get that extra boost.

Your Monitor Resolution: honestly I am open to this..

Additional Comments: I have been using a laptop I bought in 2010 and it is getting overwhelmed with what I am asking of it(it is taking it like a champ so far). I primarily play WOT right now but I will eventually move onto other games. This rig is a bit more then I had anticipated and am looking to slim it down a bit but not bottle neck too badly. Also I want to know if I made any errors in parts. I am fairly unfamiliar with self builds.

On a side note I don’t know what case is going to be big enough to hold the GPU, I have read some reviews saying it was a decently lengthy card.

if you're serious about not overclocking, going for a lower clock CPU can go a long way to save up cash. a few mhz in clock speed isn't to result in too much of a performance difference, unless you play Starcraft 2 extensively.

drop the cpu cooler. you can add one later if the stock cooler doesn't meet your requirements.

changed the mobo in the event you have a change of mind to go with Nvidia. otherwise, what you chose is fine for crossfire. just note only Z97/Z87 boards support SLI.

you're never gonna need more than 8GB for the tasks you listed out.

storage is your call, but i'd go with a quality 120GB Samsung 840 EVO or Crucial M4 + 1TB HDD if you're not going to install too many games at any one time.

PSU's fine, but if you much prefer to save up in the short term over the long term via saved electricity bills, no harm with a quality 80+ Bronze PSU. if you're going to SLI/CF may as well get a higher wattage PSU. by the time you add another 280 in the mix, you won't need to look for a PSU then.
