Hello!

I recently bought a GTX 780 TI superclocked EVGA edition. I overclocked it a tad and have noticed that it runs about 60c while idle. From what i know that is very hot. While doing benchmarks and playing games it runs about 85c. Anyone know what the problem is? I bought this pc prebuilt and dont know much of the parts. I can list what i know and then post a link of the PC. The only change that ive made is the gpu, which is now a GTX 780 TI.

OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
HDD: 1 tb
SSD: 120gb (Windows installed here)
GPU: GTX 780 TI
CPU: i7 4770k (Stock clock)
Ram: 16gb (dont know name or speed)
PSU: 600w Solytech

Thanks guys. Im very new with PC's and need a little help. Thanks again

Strange, those temps are defiantly higher than normal.

Do you have enough airflow.

Check your voltages. BTW you are running a $700 power hungry video card on a PSU that is low quality and an outdated design. I would replace that PSU before you end up needing to buy another system. If the PSU is overvolting it will cause high temps and will damage hardware if it's not dealt with.

Well i bought the system prebuilt January 2014 so its not too old, but i dont know how long its been sitting in a warehouse. Its definitely the minimum wattage for the gpu.

Would that be the answer to my GPU running hot though?

How should i clean the inside of my system as well? Could dust be the problem?

It's a good possibility, that's why I suggested to check the voltages. The 12v rail maxes at 40a(480w) which is very poor for a supposed 600w PSU. Nvidia recommends a PSU with atleast 42a on the 12v rail.

Would it be too muchto ask you for a recommended PSU. One that is around a $100 and be suitable for my build. Please nothing crazy like 1300w. I really appreciate it

I heard having 4 12v rails is bad. Is that true?

For cleaning the system you can use a can(s) of air duster. I use an air compressor with a desiccant filter and air dryer attachments.

Ive never cleaned my system since purchase, how often should i be doing that. Also should i reroute my cable so they are nice and out of the way?

Um very weird but my GPU is now running at 36c. I just checked it and its running normal. This is quite weird

Depends on how dusty/dirty the environment is. I clean mine about once a month.

I live in a basement and its very dusty. So i should get cleaning. I really appreciate your help and will take your advice on getting a new PSU asap. Thank you very much

So here is my question ... i juts bought 780 ti SC to play in 4k and i have done no oc they are just running on their reference speed n memory .. the problem is they still get hot .... i have corsair 540 with 2 fans in front and a exhaust (h100i) on top ... but they still do 79... 77 or 80 when im playing BF4 or any other game
I have a psu from cooler master 1000w fully modular ... so what should be my course of action to keep this card running on cool temp ...
