I am going to buy this motherboard
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P Socket AM3+ 7.1 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

Would two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 GRAPHICS cards be able to fit on it?

The Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 supports SLI and Crossfire

It's also worth noting that the GTX 650 cannot be run in SLI; it has no connector for it. The weakest nVidia card that can SLI is the 650 ti Boost.

Better go for a GTX 770 maybe or a 680 even

Indeed, a single strong graphics card would almost certainly be a better long term choice that 2 weaker cards in SLI.

As you suggested

coupled with these, which are part I have already.

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz

I'd suggest a 770 made by EVGA rather than PNY as EVGA has got awesome warranties on their cards :)
