windows 7 blue screen OK it's been a year and I finally decided I want to fix this problem. I haven't been able to login to my laptop for over a year with a long startup screen that shows only the logo sequence then blue screens a split second before going black and restarting Following leads on the web I restarted it and continuously hit f8 to get to the advanced start up screen where I disabled the auto restart now it shows the blue screen which has the standard stuff with unmountable_boot_valume in all caps And this error or technical information *** Stop: 0x000000ed (0xfffffa8002fa7c50, 0xffffffffc0000185, 0x0000000000000000, 0x00000000000000000) What does it mean

By the way I've tried to use the recovery function which took hours with no results I've had others tell me it's problems with my BIOS but I don't know how to change or do anything about that so please help This is all hard to type on a phone but additional info is needed When logging in I have two start up options Launch startup repair in which after it finishes I can only move my mouse can't even alt ctrl del And normal start up the first previous listed results with the long startup and blue screen Safe mode (any of them do not work)

You can most likely fix it by using System Restore. Here we go:
1. Keep tapping F8 during the early boot phase.
2. Select Repair from the menu.
3. Enter the Administrator's password when prompted. It is often blank.
4. Select System Restore when prompted.
5. Set Windows back to a point before this problem occurred.

As previous person stated you can try that.
But you should also run tests to see if there some errors with your HDD.

Try making a bootable cd with some test programs for your HDD, i suggest Ultimate Boot CD.
It lets you run a smart test on the disk to see if you got any damaged sectors or such. Then it is time to backup vital information (if you have any) and replace the disk.

Good Luck :)
