I7-4790k Standard Vcore and Vrin?

Hey folks, got my new cpu yesterday and noticed one thing upon booting - the standard vcore my GIGABYTE z97x-sli board sets is 1.37v, along with 1.92v vrin.
First thing I did was lowering vcore to 1.15 (going to set it down a bit further, seeing how far I get (while just keeping 4./4.4 ghz clock), but I have no idea about vrin. What would be a healthy value to set it to for clock speeds?
Ram is 16gb 2400mhz by the way, if that adds anything.

It's just a clocked up i7 4770k. So I'd expect about 1.25V

Edit - Vrin should be about 0.6V above this.

Thanks, I figured I just let my Vcore stay at 1.15 and vrin at 1.71 (it automatically changed that when I lowered vcore). Temps should be fine anyway, getting about 60° C max. on 100% load.

Oh, another question though.
When I enable XMP, my cpu will run at 4.4ghz all time, contrary to switching between 800mhz to 4.4ghz, depending on needs. Is there any way to enable xmp but keep the scaling?

Edit: Yeah, prime 95, small ffts. What should be about max. temps if I intend to OC in futute?

Enabling XMP should make no difference to cpu clock speed. You should be fine for ram up to 3000Mhz. Check your mobo manual.

Max gaming or video rendering temps should be about 55C.

Mhm, getting about 53-55C max. temps while rendering with vegas, but with the cpu at base 4.2 ghz (4 cores on 95+% load). So for overclocking in future, I might need a new cooler.

Yep. For an i7 you should either get one of the big Noctua air coolers or say a Corsair h80 or 90.

Any cpu overclocking you should have a custom cooler.

I'm with a Scythe Mugen 4 currently, but apparently it doesn't go spinning as fast as it can when my cpu temps get over 55C

Uh, apparently after running prime95 for like half an hour, my temps to up to 95°C which is definitely not health. I've had good experience with the Mugen 4 before though, so I'll check if I assembled something wrong.

What did you do?, i bought a i7 4790k yesterday and in stock i'm hitting 100ºC (i update the bios and the stock cooler is well placed)
