If you have a budget for a new PC it seems like you only need the CPU/Motherboard. If that is the case, going AMD is probably your best bet. So going with a FX-6300 and a decent motherboard would be fine. How much RAM do you have?

I know nothing about processors but the fx 6300 seems good but you will want to turn off the turbo core during the summer.

This is the motherboard I have been looking at:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013

Complicated. What power supply do you have?

There is the XFX TS 550 for $26 after $25 rebate and $10 coupon. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013

I like the R7 260x due to value and performance.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=260x&N=100006519&isNodeId=1

I have the MSi 2GB and the power color 1GB.

You could probably hold off on upgrading the memory but upgrading to 8 GB will help with general performance.

The motherboard should be $60 though.

The fx 6300 seems to be the best value though.

fx 6300, the $60 motherboard and whatever video card.

What power supply do you have though?

The fx 6300 is 95W TDP so it is the best one considering the situation.

300 bucks is not leaving you enough room for a decent rig. I've built killer machines for 8 or 9 hundred. Keep your email checker and save some more cash to build a better pc. The other option is to buy it in tiers, mb and ram, cpu, ram and psu. Don't settle for what you can afford now, save and build something that you will be happy with.

well moving from a dual core cpu and iGPU to a 6 core processor + a quite good gpu would be a big change :)
And it all depends i might get a 750 ti SC + fx 6300 + Mobo + psu + mouse + mouse pad + headphones :) If im lucky :p
