Hi there,

Was wondering if the current psu might just do with the new 295X2?

The 295X2 need at least 50A in both PCIe connectors, the AX 860I has 72A on the 12v rail.

Also, I would be using the new 4790K(not planning to ocing)
4xMechanical drives
2xSSD'S
2X140MM fans
H100i (Push/Pull)
2x120mm fans.

All of these fans will be connected to a fan controller :Aerocool Touch 2100

I think that by having all these hardware connected might just not be enough for the 860i...

Thanks.

One R9 295X2 draws 500W, so the AX860i should be fine

In some benchmarks, I have seen going all the way to 650watts.

The AX 860i will still be able to handle it though.

Even with all that hardware connected?

AX860 should be able to handle ONE 295x2.
But if you are going to overclock (even when not planning to NOW), I suggest 1000w. I think shopping around you may find the difference is quite small, and you will have some spare power later when the poison of 4k gaming starts to permeates...

Good luck

A single Radeon R9-295X2 needs 52 amps on the 12v rail and a 800 watt power supply.

The Corsair AX 860i is sufficient to power your specs with the card.

Hi there Sr 71,

Is there any psu calculator to verify your finding?

If I oc the cpu, do you think I can still use the 860i or do i need to buy a 1000W psu?
I will be using the 4970k devil's canyon.

So, there is no really need to buy a 1KW psu since the ax 860i would be able to handle the 295x2 right?
I'm just concern about the rest of the hardware like the cpu, the fans,SSD/HD,etc.

Superb suggestion for SuperNova 1000.
We don't have them in our country though but if OP can get it ...go go go.
