I'm making a temporary move and cancelling my AT&T U-VERSE contract (they don't offer high speed like I need at the temporary address only AT&T DSL). I'll be at this location for about 2 weeks before I move permanently. I work from home chatting online while navigating different screens. Can I purchase the USB modems I hear about that provide their own internet service until I'm able to reinstate a contract with an at-home service? I read this article, and I wasn't sure how this would apply to me considering I had a PC (Dell, Windows 7): http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2343913,00.asp . Please help.

It requires a wireless bridge between your computer and the phone. This is probably easiest done as a wireless card in your pc. I think you can also setup wireless bridges using access points or wireless routers but it's not something I have done.

If that's what you're happy to go with then I would suggest you try tethering your smartphone first, if you have one. Most smartphones do wireless internet sharing these days. If you can get by with that for a fortnight it saves on the hassle of getting all that extra kit in just for a temporary move.

Thank you so much for replying! That was what I thought after reading that article because I see it's just like another service with a contract that may not be able to cancel (without cost) when I turn my AT&T service back on. I have the LG G2 with T-Mobile, but I don't know how fast the connection speed is (actually never tried tethering) or how fast it would bring my data down (5GB not unlimited). Does tethering require a special cable or cord?
