need a graphics card

i have a hec-400te-2we power supply and i want to buy a reliable but low cost graphics card i was thinking about a AMD Radeon HD 6850 but i am not sure ... plz help :)

No but the 750 is a downgrade in performance for you. But the 6850 is to powerful for your power supply. You really need a new power supply instead of a new graphics card.

I think I'd keep it to cards that don't need a PCIe power cable, such as the GTX750Ti. If it needs to be cheaper, the non-Ti is a step down. Even cheaper should be a HD7750; make sure it is a GDDR5 version, not one of the DDR3 abominations.

What are you other system components? You can only push so much from that power supply without overloading it. If you can get a 750 Ti that would be the best option but wouldn't really be that big of an upgrade from the 6850. If you can afford the 760 you would get better performance but I am not sure if your power supply can handle that.

A GTX760 would not run safely on that PSU. I've not heard of a GTX760Ti. Typo? A GTX750Ti is more powerful than a HD6850, but does not need a PCIe power cable. It also costs more. What is the budget for this?
The type of RAM on your motherboard and the type of RAM on the graphics card are not related in any way.

I have no idea what you've been smoking, but I'm sure I'd get fired for trying some. If you check out the chart at http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html you'll see the phenomenal difference between the GeForce 8600 he has now (same tier as Intel's HD4000) and a GTX750 (equivalent to a HD6870 or HD7790).
Is the misunderstanding because you are comparing it to the HD6850 the OP was considering? They are indeed only one tier apart (the GTX750 is higher). The key difference would be power usage. The HD6850 uses around 110W, and the GTX750 uses around 60W, which is a big difference considering his PSU.

people thenks for your help but new question ... i have just been given a new graphics card a ATI Radeon HD 5870 and a 500 w power supply :) here is the problem i can't find if the card is compatible with the power supply any advise ?

Depends on the PSU in question. I have an FX 8320 @ 4.0ghz with an HD 5850 in one of my systems. It has an OCZ 500w extreme I bought as a cheap repair a few years ago. No problems at all. If it is at least 80+ certified or better, you should be fine, unless it is a known junk PSU company. An HD 5870 is still a fairly decent card. It is close in performance to an HD 7850, if I remember correctly.
