Is this an optimal build to run League of Legends and other low-end games?

Hello. I've recently gotten into the video game League of Legends, but since my old computer crapped out on me I had to go back to using my old Dell laptop to play it on. The results were not very good, I was barely managing 20fps on the lowest possible settings/resolution and I would often hit spikes of 6fps that would last a long time. So, I've started looking into a new build that I hope will run this game optimally while still keeping a low price point. I'm not really looking for a dedicated GPU, although I would like to add a graphics card in the future. This integrated video looks decent enough and I think I've hit the right price point for all the parts. Any tips on how to make this build better?


CPU - (AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad-Core) [Integrated Radeon HD 7660D] = Combo or $109.99

Motherboard - (Asus A55BM-K Micro ATX FM2+) = $55.24

Memory - (G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1866) = Combo or $42.99

A r7 260x would max that game out for around 119$ its probably the best value u can get for what u wanna play. A gt 640 for around 75$ on clearance @ best buy would run it pretty well too. I think the 260x is better long term as it can handle most new games in 720p on good settings and low settings in 1080p.

Okay total waste here, as the A10 is made for low end uses (want to watch Youtube, check facebook) not for gaming, and especially not with the Integrated Graphics in it. Your seeming to want a 'couple hundred dollar solution', which really isn't going to fly in PCs this way even for LOL (as you see my your old dell laptop experience).

I would suggest you grab a simple i3 Haswell Cpu LGA1150 mobo and add a 750Ti if your going to build it yourself. You may want to look at the Mobo options as you can get Wifi built in (so say the mobo costs 70 instead you saving $20 from buying it seperately), do NOT GET 1 STICK RAM, always 2x as all multicores need Dual Sticks to work optimally, I would suggest you go with 8GB. Also your not mentioning the additional cost of Windows, as you can't move it from the Dell (when sold with a OEM it is TIED to that hardware ONLY, you can't move it to any other system).

Now you COULD just go to BestBuy/Walmart and grab a prefab i3 system for around $249-$299, make sure it has at least a 300W PSU, and then order the 750ti (if they don't have one on the shelf) and this will include all the hardware, warranty, and Windows' costs alleviating the risk of a self build (oops the cat rubbed my leg when I was installing the RAM, is that why I can't power on my build?) which would require you to go buy the parts again if you mess up, as well as warranty if anything goes wrong, and preconfigured to reduce build time.

Actually the entire A10 series was made for people who want to play games like TF2, Gmod, Minecraft, LoL, WoW, and even some higher titles like the Battlefield series if you are willing to tune down the resolution to 720P. The only problem (and it isn't really a problem) is that you only selected a 4GB stick of RAM. This will get you by for a while but it will give you better performance from your APU if you grab another stick in the future. You can also Crossfire this APU with some of the dedicated AMD GPU's once you get the $$ to do so. But for now I think that your build will be able to run most any game if you turn down the graphics settings. A buddy of mine is still using an older A6 laptop and he can run Crysis 3 on medium-low settings on 720p and it is playable. As long as you don't care too much about how the game looks then you should be fine until you can get another RAM stick and a dedicated GPU to crossfire with the APU. Oh, and get an OS if you don't have one.
