Which should I go with for my gaming build:
a.) FX-8320 with two R9-280x's CrossFired
b.) i7-4770 with one R9-280x

Factors to consider: performance; longevity of life; will option (a) impose a bottleneck?
Factors to NOT consider: price, alternative options.

Option A gets my vote. Both of the CPUs are easily enough for gaming (assuming that's the purpose of this setup), but the GPU setup in option A is vastly superior.

For all we know, he might be looking to play the original Everquest almost exclusively, which would make me lean toward B! :D

jk option A looks sweet ;)

Thanks guys! So I shouldn't be worried about a bottleneck if I go with option (a)?

I wouldn't worry about it. If the CPU starts to bottleneck at some point, just grab an aftermarket CPU cooler and do a bit of overclocking (assuming your board can handle it).

If it didn't have to be those but need to cost the same i would go c) FX6300 (same performance for gaming oced) and a 290x (single card solutions that are as powerful as a dual card solution are always better but 2*280X will perform about 15-25% for some games).

wait do you want us to care about price or not. If no then most def a r9 295x2 crossfire if price is then opition A with 2 r9 290's or same as is.
