Hello,

I'm looking to buy new parts as my GPU has died on me earlier today.
This is the existing setup I have right now:

Case: Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced (USB 3.0)
GPU: ASUS HD7970-DC2T-3GD5 (replacing)
MOBO: ASUS P8Z68-V Pro (replacing due to broken PCIe slot)
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro M700
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Black LP 8GB DDR3-1600
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
CPU cooling: Gelid Tranquillo Rev.2

I'm going to replace these 2 parts with the following

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 WindForce OC 4GB
MOBO: Gigabyte Z97-D3H

I've also had a look at the GTX770, but the R9 290 is coming out as the better one most of the time. The GTX780 is to expensive for my budget right now.

I dont really know a lot about electronics so I just wanted to ask for opinions and possible other suggestions from more experienced people. And if this setup looks good, if all the parts will be compatible with eachother.

Thank you for your time.

The r9 290 is good, but you can't use the i5 2500k on z97 except you buy the new 4th gen cpu, otherwise get the z77 for the i5 2500k. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#c=52&sort=a8
