NZXT Phantom 410 vs H440? Temps?

Hi. After researching for a long time, I am stuck with two inexpensive and cool looking cases, the H440 and Phantom 410. Both cases are spectacular in many ways and no expert reviews brought it to a score below 80 (not that I know of). But one of these must stand out over the other one.

So I am mainly focusing on performance of the case. But things like the 5 inch drives and looks don't really matter to me. I only care about sufficient airflow and practicality with cables and stuff.

The Phantom's got the upper hand for airflow, while the H440 is known for amazing cable management and silence. Also note that the Phantom has good cable management too. But I heard that the sound dampening materials are good in insulating heat as well, and that causes a drop in overall temps. So is the Temperature increase worth it or should I go for good airflow?

Please tell me your oppinions below!

P.S. I fell abit unsure about the Phantom. Because it is abit older, it might be less future proof. But the H440 is only one year younger, so it might not matter.

Phanteks Enthoo Pro is one that I highly recommend. One of my friends has a Phantom and likes it. It is the origional Phantom, which I reccomend over the 410...

Thanks for your opinion.

Just saying, even if airy, the sound dampers still retain heat and that is one problem though. So despite good airflow, the dampers somewhat will work like a jacket.

I really like the h440, the material on the side won't really affect the overall temperature of everything, I've noticed in the light foams it seems like for whatever reason they trap a lot more heat inside vs the more dense foam. The case is really water cooling oriented, you can place a triple rad in the front, I use a 360 rad in the front for my custom loop in a push pull, and then I use a slimmer rad up top I can't remember the thickness but it is a bit thicker than the h105. But I really love it overall, My wife has the blue version of it, I just kind of built a 2nd computer for fun and because I love to build loops. Hers is on air atm until I can afford to buy some more rads but we have 3 noctua nf-f12s in the front, we tried using AF fans but they just didn't work as good, and then for the back we used a 1500 rpm corsair fan. The fans that come on the case are really poor at moving air, I mean they are alright, but if you want really good temps you need 3 static pressure fans in the front, I know some people use 140mm but I tested them and they just didn't work as good, and one af 140 from corsair in the back. But she is kind of a amd person so her build has the 290x which tops out at about 87c I want to say, but some people get 90c in other cases that aren't silent optimized so the foam, and the lack of ventilation doesn't really play to big of a roll in this case. I would recommend buying a 360mm water cooling kit from ek if you ever get the chance, if you buy this case.

The H440 does not really have excellent cable management, in the end most of the extra cables end up bundled into bottom of the case if you run allot of cables.

You will need 3 120mm static pressure fans mounted in the front and airflow fans mounted in the top and rear. I would highly recommend using water cooling mounted in the front using at least a 38mm radiator set to intake in push pull config.

Alright. Thanks for your suggestions. I will think about it. Anyways, I am now thinking about comparing the H440 and the Original Phantom. I know it is a full tower, but with the same price, does it perform well with cooling and cables? Just an opinion is needed.

The front of the H440 is not restricted. I had the case and it was not an issue AT ALL. The issue is with the top panel. If you watercool, or use an all in one, your temps will not be good. I saw a 20 degree difference from 60 to 40C in BF4 with it on and off. You can take off the top, but then you have exposed ports, and a bright power button light shinning in your eyes. Look at another thread about this around you's on the list to see why I returned my case. The cable management is a night mare. Unless you have ribbon cables, it is a battle.

So... suggestions?

But speaking of the Phanteks Enthoo Pro. It features a 200m fan in the front and a 140mm in the back. It has a great quality to its build. There is a PWM fan hub in the back. It also has an amazing watercooling support.

Another great case is the Fractal Design Define R4. Decent Airflow, quiet build, and overall a great case. It is one of the most popular cases out there

Well... I actually thought the Entoo Pro is an awesome budget-like case but it is not available in my country. So any other options?

Um, this might be a bit hard to think about, but how about both Air and Closed Liquid? You know, Kraken G10 and all. Cooling GPUs with All in ones and stuff.

So your air cooling the CPU and AIO liquid cool the GPU?

That may not go so well unless you mount the AIO radiator in the rear and that will interfere with the CPU air cooler. This only leaves mounting it on the front intake which will then blow all the hot air right back onto GPU.

How about if we put additional fans to the bottom/top? If this happens, the front fan will be an exhaust instead, while the cooling comes from the strong(er) fans from the bottom or top.

But this is not such a bad deal. For the fact that the Kraken only is the price of two mid range fans.

The optimal way for getting airflow in that case is to get rid of all of the stock fans and use either corsair or noctua fans, what you will want to do is get 3 sp fans in the front, and another sp fan for push pull for the kraken. Then two I believe that you can use 140mm fans up top so you should get two of those, don't use three up top or else any cool air pulled in from the front will just get taken out before it can cool anything if you do. Then you need something like the corsair AF140 in the back to push the air out. I always like to have as much fans as possible in taking air and just letting it escape out the back and top, while letting the rest escape out the little holes and cracks around the case, this will allow your case to also stay super clean.

Hmm... I would like to keep my case on a good budget, and not spend too much on what is included in the case.
So any good Bang-for-buck fans?

No he should not use SP 120 fans in the front because the is not restrictive at all (I had this cause and tested the front, and there was no issue at all with the front airflow. The front fans a fine. I had this case but returned it due to the top causing all in one coolers to perform poorly. He should not be getting the H440 at all. If he needs some fans for the front, the SP120 dual pack is the best bang for the buck, put he should not waste his money on push pull for a thin radiator with little resistance. Push pull in only benefically with Heatsinks, thick radiators, or if you have low static pressure fans. Push Pull is a waste of time nowadays because we have fans that can get the job done. He would only get about 1 or 2 degrees better.

Alright. So all of the fans cost a total of... $97! Yikes!

I mean, in PC terms, it is a great deal, but I dont think I have the wallet to spend almost a hundred 'just' on 7 case fans. But do you know some alternatives that drop the prices to around $70-80?

I know it is a large price point, but there must be some brands that could go down a bit lower, without getting reliability off the list. Right?:??:

The fans that come with the H440 move little to no air. I installed in the top and back of mine 3x COUGAR CF-V14HB. 4x COUGAR CF-V12HPB installed in the front for now. They move much more air than the stock fans and just as silent

Yikes. they are kind of expensive. Any cheaper alternatives?

They move plenty of air. With the top cover off, my FX-8350 could not break 40 degrees in the most demanding Battlfiedl 4 moments and maps. I am using an H105 on my CPU.
