for some reason my external hardrive doesnt read on my compute (i can not open it on the computer) the light flashes when connected to via the USB (whilst light flashes the harddrive spins and computer recognises it enough to install driversoftware) once the power light changes to a solid light the hardrive seems to stop spinning and i can not do anyhting withthe hardrive. I can find the hard drive in device manager but can not actually open it... is there anyhtig else i can try or do ou have any suggestions on what may have causd the failure?

Can you check what the disk manager says? If it is installing the hard drive as a mass-storage device, the only other reason windows wouldn't auto-mount the drive is because it is having issues recognizing the partition table.

Does the disk manager recognize the drive?
