i have a amd a6 6400k dual core apu. with an asus a88x pro mobo. the stock clock speeds are 3.9ghz with 4.0ghz boost. i know how to change the multiplier part. i want to OC to 4.2ghz but i dont know whats a safe voltage to start off with. i installed prime 95 too. i got a basic knowledge of OC but what i dont understand is what voltage to start off at
how do i start an overclock. beginners

ok, to start, raise the multiplier only to get to 4.2, then run prime95. you might have a bsod, or have errors in prime95, and if so, increase the voltage by 0.025 and repeat.

well, it depends on if your cpu can downclock when idling, such as 800mhz. if so, do not let the voltage stay at 1.45. usually, you would disable things like that so it always runs overclocked.

eh, not significantly, you can have it downclock when idleing, but idk what voltage to put it at for that.
