[SOLVED] ASUS P9X79 PRO - Stopped booting, stuck on b9 Q code

I've had this motherboard (ASUS P9X79 PRO) for two years now, and it's been fine. Yesterday, in the middle of using it the screen suddenly went black which I figured was just a crash so pressed the reset button.

That did nothing.

I've tried Flashing the BIOS, Clearing the CMOS, unplugging all hardware apart from GPU/CPU/RAM, checked all the power connections, but it still keeps getting stuck on the same Q code each time, which is b9. Unfortunately, the manual simply describes this code as "Reserved for future AMI codes".

Does anyone know anything that could help?

ASUS told me to RMA the motherboard. In the process of disassembling it for RMA, I tested it several times. It ran into different error codes when I removed all the memory, then I tested one stick at a time. Turns out one of the sticks of RAM had gone faulty, now running fine with 12GB of RAM.

It's definitely b9, because when the codes are correct (for example AA) I know that it's the correct way up.

I've downloaded various BIOS versions and installed them using the Flashback function, but it still runs into the same error.

What is the difference between naming it AMIBOOT.ROM and P9X79PRO.ROM?
