I want to partition my computer where the OS in on one partition of around 100gb and have the rest of the space left on the 1tb drive as another partition that I install my games on and dowload stuff on. I mostly want everything to be on the second partition and I only want the OS on the first partition. I heard this sped up the basic functions of the computer. I thought I did this when I installed windows 7 but when I started downloading games from steam everything was going into the first partition with my OS and there arent any files on the second partition. Im really confused as to how this works, and how much better is it to have two partitions? Would it be easier or just as good to have everything on one partition?

whenever you download and install something, be it games or other software...it asks you for install destination. All you need to do is select the install destination as you want the software to be in, in this case the one that doesn have the OS (probably D drive, depending on how you labelled it)...also there's an option in Steam where you can select your default install location
