Hey could u guys plz help me for this problem. I have a broadband internet connection but in torrent it's speed not getting up on above 40kbps my network plan is 256kbps .So I contact My Internet operator ,they checked & they say that in LAN status settings in configure there the option for speed & duplex which they change from 10Mbps full duplex to Auto Negotiation . Then the connection doesn't connect ,even the 100Mbps one is also not working .SO they say that my torrent speed is not increasing because its not connecting to the Auto Negotiation. They say Its necessary for torrent download.I also Checked with my bro's laptop ,so in laptop its working fine on autonegotiation & its gives about 700kBps downld speed
I want to know how to make the auto negotiation work in my pc i also try the update driver but stil no work My mobo is Asus M5a7 8lmlx
plz help me

Generally when things do not auto negotiate the speed/duplex you have a bad cable. It could also be a bad port in your PC but that is rare.

The issue with setting speed and duplex is you must either set both ends to the exact same settings or set them both to auto. Since you can not change this setting in most consumer routers/switches you get big issues when you set it in the PC. If you set the PC to 10m full duplex the router will figure the speed out of 10m but connect half duplex. You now get massive issues because the full duplex side does not even bother to check for collisions.

You could try to set it to 100m half duplex and see. The router should then with auto also set it self to 100m half. Half duplex is not a good idea but since you only have 256k you might get by with it.
