i5 3570k getting 60 g flops at 4.2ghz

To begin, thank you for any replies or suggestions you may have, I am not completely new to overclocking but am new to a lot of parts of it such as service packs, impact of bios versions, etc.

now, I am not sure what I was getting before I overclocked but recently I have been noticing my CPU becoming the bottleneck of my entire build(will post all my specs at the bottom). I pushed the voltage up to +.55v and ran intelburntest, got a average of 60 Gflops and then searched what I should be getting. I never got a direct "here is what you should get" but from what I saw on other questions 60 Gflops is pretty slow... regardless I will try to boost up my voltage more, and do some general trouble shooting.

System Specs
Gpu
2xGTX 670 lightning

CPU
i5-3570k 4.2 +.55 volts

Motherboard
Z77 extreme 6 (don't know my bios version)

RAM
16gb 1866mhz g.skill

HDD
1x250gb samsung 840 evo
1x2tb seagate hdd
1x1tb caviar black

Thank you for your time :D

It is definitely bottle necking bf4 and really any other game I play, from what I have read the 3570k should be getting 102Gflops stock speed...

note:
The reason I know it's bottlenecking is my gpu's are at 60% usage and my ram is at 30% while my cpu is at 100% and im getting 30 fps, sure looks like a bottlneck to me(plus i'm running bf4 on the ssd so the read/write speed can't be the issue)

could it possibly be an issue with my bios version?

I highly doubt your CPU is the bottleneck esp. @ 4.2 GHz. Even @ the stock 3.5 GHz, the 3570k and even a 3470 will not be a bottleneck unless we are talking quad-SLI 780tis or something extreme like that. What are your temps when running this test? What CPU cooler are you using? Case? Any other details about the PC's cooling setup?

EDIT: after your last post, what settings inside of BF4 are you using? Vsync on? Resolution, detail, etc?

alright so I am using the 212 plus, HAF 912 with 2x120m fans in front(in take), 1x120mm fan side(intake), 1x200mm fan on top(venting), 1x120mm fan on back(venting)

I am getting a max of 88 celcius (average of 84)
It is reading 4.2ghz, and 1.25v(but I am still getting about 55-60 gflops[this is very slow!])

In BF4 I have vsync on(adaptive) 90 FOV and ultra settings

note: this is the post I read earlier a person having the same problem with a different CPU(still I5)

Firo40, while that is possible I doubt it due to the fact that it is very difficult to damage your components due to automatic prevention operations, and I never put my voltage up to like +1.2 for no reason, so while it may be a bad chip, judging from the link i posted above I believe it might be some sort of "throttling" issue.

Those temps are a bit on the high side esp with a 212+ and 2 fans. Are the CPU fans in push-pull with the air flow going towards the back? You might want to check that all the fans are working properly and that the heatsink it secure. Even though your CPU is clocked at 4.2 GHz and is using 1.25v, thermal inefficiency will cause it to lose processing power. It isn't downclocking or crippling (aka throttling) itself because you haven't gone over the thermal limit which would be a little over 100c. You need to get those temps down under 80c. What is your ambient room temp? Case air temp?

all fans are working properly and it would seem that my cooler is situated correctly/tightly

after running the test at default settings, I got 50Gflops(from what I know this is horrendous) but my temps don't go over 60... so I doubt it has anything to do with temperature... could be a defect but again the person in the link I shared had nearly the same problem.

note: max of 66 average of 61

Is there a possiblity I disabled two of the cores? I mean while it may be hard to believe, I am getting half the performance I should get, maybe I messed with the settings in the bios or something that set it to use two cores instead of four.(maybe to not hyperthread but if memory serves me right, the i5-3570k does not have hyperthreading but instead 4 physical cores)

If I do need to replace the CPU, it wont be that big of a deal, but I would like to be absolutely certain it is in fact a CPU defect.

So, very strange, yet wonderful thing happened.

I recently decided to upgrade my case, after re-installing all my components I started up my computer, while testing my CPU again I now am getting 100-105 Gflops(twice as good), I have definitely noticed a difference in BF4 and many of my other operations.

I believe what fixed this was I had before only plugged in 4 of the 8 atx12v pins into the motherboard, when I was transferring I used a ATX12v rail extender, I believe I was not getting sufficient power to my CPU rendering/restricting it's speed.

Even though this was great, there were problems that came along with it(as there often are), when ever I would start my computer the start up windows sound was very scratchy and jumpy, if my CPU was at 100% use the whole computer would stutter and the sound would become extremely choppy(as well as my mouse/keyboard would randomly stop working). I did a little research online and updated my bios to version 2.4 and the problems have completely gone. It would seem my computer is now as stable as ever, just more powerful :D.

I don't know why this happened to begin with, but it is very strange... If you have an idea as to why this fixed my issue please let me know.

note: the temps have gone way up, I now have a high of 97, which is whatever, my computer stays stable and is generally at 40-60c so I am not very worried(plus I plan on upgrading to water cooling soon[hence the case upgrade]).
