Hello, I have a Dell Optiplex 775 Desktop that I would like to upgrade the memory on. There are several types of the Optiplex 775 it seems, but I have the largest one, the normal desktop model. The stick it has in there right now is a 1GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300U-555 12E0. I would at least like to get 4GB of RAM, but possibly 8GB in the future. I want 2x 2GB sticks that will work with my system but with all the different models of the Optiplex I am a bit confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a page I found on this type of computer that may help, I have the normal desktop type.

Hi
Go to crucial.com to see what ram is suitable for your model
Even if you do not buy from crucial you will know what is required
They give a guarantee that if they recommend the wrong ram they will exchange it for the correct ones
I presume your model has 4 DDR -2 slots with 1 filled or is it 2 slots and 1 free?

Yes, my motherboard has four slots total, one being used by the stick I have mentioned above. Crucial says that my motherboard can take DDR2 PC2-5300U sticks at 667mhz up to 8GB, and 800mhz up to 4GB. So as long as I get a stick that has those specs I should be good? There is so many different descriptions and ways that people word things that make it hard to know for sure what you are getting.
