Ive had this computer 6 month nearly now and recently upgraded a couple of parts in order to be able play certain games on better settings.

Specs are:

4x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz which is currently at 1.5v and 1600mhz

I5-4670k and h100i cooler OCed to 4.4 at 2.5v

120GB M500 crucial SSD

Win 7 64bit

Gigabyte gtx 770 4GB Graphics card

Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Motherboard

All components showed at expected speeds through both coretemp and cpu-z

When trying to overclock my RAM higher than 1600Mhz, my computer doesnt boot past the motherboard loading screen and tells me to go to BIOS to change settings.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to solve this problem, and how high I should expect the RAM to go to?

Thanks in advance.

Imo, its not worth overvolting your memory & all the hassle, unless you want to gain specific numbers/targets in benchmarks.

There won't be any noticeable performance gains from oc'ing your ram past 1600mhz.
1600mhz is the sweet spot for gaming or otherwise.

Simple answer don't overclock the memory!

Hope that helped you! :)

I got this general message from what I read online which is why I posted here. I am aware of the issues it can create but the specific game I wanted it for has had reports of noticeable fps increase from higher RAM speeds. I was hoping for some tips to actually overclock it myself so I could test it out

The gains would be so minimal don't bother.

Look, really, I'm grateful that people are telling me its pointless but you aren't helping with my issue. Can anyone actually help me with my issue without telling me it isnt an issue please?

Okay, to start off make sure your cpu is stable, if unstable during stress test, you will know that the cpu isn't the cause of instability.
Leave all your ram timings & everything on auto, then set your freq. to 1866mhz & set voltage @ 1.65v.
Boot up & test for instability, you can try OCCT. If its stable then start dropping the timings one by one.
for eg. start with 10-11-11-36, then 10-10-11-11-36 etc... If one is unstable then leave it be and move to the next i.e. 10-11-10-11-36.
You can try to drop the tRAS from 36 to 28/24

Once you've reached your goal, then you can try dropping your voltage to find out the minimum voltage required.

which game are you referring to?
AFAIK, a boost of 133mhz on your memory is not gonna give you any significant boost in any game or application that I'm aware of.

The game is ArmA 3, which has some strange effects in terms of hardware, and doesnt tend to run like most games. I actually noticed 10% Fps increase turning my RAM up from 1333 to 1600 and was wondering how high I could get my RAM and still see noticable gains. Thanks for the help by the way.
