Hello, I am in possession of an ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe motherboard. I have done a ton of research over the last month on the RAM issue that this board has.
The processor I am using is a Pentium IV, LGA 775, Prescott, 3.8 GHz.
I understand that with the following issue I will need to OC this core to make this work. These core's generate ALOT of heat, so I will obviously be using a liquid cooling system. I intend to attempt to push this core beyond 4 GHz.
Now, my question regards the current issue with the DDR3 RAM. I understand that many, many people have been requesting information regarding 16 GB of DDR3 running at 1600 MHz. I have yet to find any positive answers to this question, with the exception of running 16 GB at 1333 MHz. I am ABSOLUTELY FINE with this if I indeed MUST use this option, or 12 GB at 1600.
I haven't yet purchased any RAM as finding a decent amount of DDR3 from the QVL list has proven difficult. I only found a few options, and only one from the 4 GB range, (2+2 GB). These can only be run as a dual-channel on this board, so 4 GB would be the maximum I can use.
The RAM I am currently looking at that is NOT on the QVL, but I have read of success from other users running these at 12 GB at 1600 MHz, and 16 GB at 1333 MHz.

I assume this issue is related to the BIOS manual overclocking options if the BIOS refuses to POST.
I have read somewhere that if you want to use 16 GB of DDR3 that is not on the horrendously outdated QVL, then you MUST run this 16 GB at 1333 MHz or BIOS will not POST. I have also read of someone using 12 GB at 1600 MHz, but they were unable to use 16 GB at 1600 MHz. I assume these issue are related to the BIOS options for manual over clocking. I, unfortunately, do not possess any information on what these options are.
So, if there IS a possible solution to this? I want to use 16 GB of DDR3 at 1600 MHz. I would be fine with 8 GB or 12 GB if those are my only options at 1600 MHz.
I cannot afford to get a different board because if I do, then I might as well upgrade everything, which is obviously $$$.
So, does anyone have some insight for me? BIOS settings for my setup?
