I'm looking for answers from the community. I have a Dell XPS 8500 and I want to install the GTX 780 TI, a friend of mine told me I need a 750 W power supply. But if I can't install it, could I install any other one that holds a lot of power in the graphics department? I want to get into PC gaming because of the FPS/graphics compared to consoles... so answer away?!

Solution

Would it fit? Yes. Would it work? Probably with a new power supply. Is it a good idea? No. You would probably get a bottleneck with that CPU.

I would like 60 FPS pretty much... I ran Borderlands 2 on my card, which is GTX Geforce 640 and the FPS was amazing to me. I know I'm a noob.. lol. What's the biggest I can do with my XPS or do I need to upgrade entirely ? I have money to put down.

You still didn't say a budget, so I have no idea what you should do :p

The 750ti is the best card for upgrading old builds/ prebuilts in my opinion.

It gets 60+ FPs in borderlands 2 as well.
You can even run watchdogs/bf4 at around 30fps in ultra. If you wanted better fps, just put in high settings instead.

A $100 upgrade to your computer or $400-500+ for a new build. Totally up to you and if you have the cash even :)

there's no budget really, I just want to explore options, but cheaper the better.. I like FPS and good looking games! I'm a "console noob", so I'm not used to the life PC gamers have. How many years do I have until I have to upgrade? I was also thinking about just figuring out what's the best card I can put in my XPS 8500(Dell) ... and get great results.
