Did I accidently press the CL-CMOS button?

Well I might have accidently pressed that button. I did some research and found out about some CL-CMOS button and I see it on the back of my computer.
So on startup it goes to this did I press that CL-CMOS button?

Probably. You need to set up bios again maybe - boot drive, ram xmp etc.

It looks like the BIOS reset itself, yes. But I've never had a MB that had a button on it for doing that. Usually you use the jumper on the board. But you never want to do that when the system is on. So I'm not sure what the deal is with the button on yours. What MB?

The motherboard manual will tell you if it has a clear cmos button

I just checked the manual for that MB. Page 2-11 explains its use. They make no disclaimers for making sure the system is off before using it. So I assume no harm was done. I'd go into BIOS if I were you and see if anything needs to be changed in the settings. The BIOS is now at its default settings.

Do you have a link to the manual? And isn't this on the bios and asking me for a PW that i dont know? also How do I get to the bios I was under the impression this was the bios since immediately after bootup it goes to that screen as seen in the picture.

eDIT: ok so I am told to remove the cmos battery which is what I am going to try to do now.

When I do that it asks for the password. What password is it I have no idea I was told its the password you use to log in but it is not.

Unless you'v set up a password, just hit return. Again, that should be in the mobo manual I linked to above.

Did you set a password? If the Cmos was reset, the password request is usually skipped.

Honestly I don't know this was 3-5 years ago and I did not build it my brother did. But I tried removing the battery and immediately put it back in. Now I am reading to put it back in after 15-30 minutes is that true?

No. You must have read something wrong.

But the password thing has me baffled. I never use a password, so I have no idea how to make it stop asking for one. I would use the CLR CMOS jumper on the MB to try again clearing the CMOS (Page 2-20).

It said that because some components might still have some power remaining so to wait that long, which I will do and try again. I also read that a new CMOS battery can reset it, and since that is only $2 I might as well try. Meanwhile I will start reading on the CMOS jumper. And I also have a Reset button on the MB will that do anything?

You can do a clear cmos (with a switch or removing the battery then putting it back 10 mins later) or a clear bios (bios reset) in bios.

Now I need to try and figure out how to reset the password and get my things back to normal any help would be great

wow I wonder what the problem was it says user password was not installed so should I leave it blank or just make one incase I forget it?

BTW: Out of curiosity is a CPU at about 64 Degrees good or bad?

Bad.

Blow out your case - especially fans, filters and coolers.
Make sure Vcore is less than 1.25V
Jack up the cpu cooler fan rpm and try again.

If still above 40C then remove the cooler and clean off the old thermal paste with isopropyl alcohol and reassemble with a pes size drop of Arctic Silver 5 on it.

OK thanks its really dirty so tomorrow I am going to get some compressed air and clean it if I can. (its a i5-2500k btw). Also is resetting it like this supposed to make it this slow because the internet feels REALLY slow and so does the computer. god why am I so stupid
