I honestly spent less and get much better performance. I am not sure what is eating up your budget. What I do see - you don't need 16 GB for gaming. 2 x 4 GB RAM would do you just fine. You probably need a better cooler for that Haswell CPU. That will barely run and rules out any overclocking you want to do for added performance.

Your build is fine but your wasting money on that Memory. 2400mhz 16GB RAM is complete overkill for gaming, all you need is 1333mhz or 1600mhz 8GB memory.

I'd drop down to 8gb ram, change to a hyper evo cpu cooler, get a better psu and get the PowerColor R9 290 TurboDuo combo, $399 gets you 780 performance AND it comes with a 250GB Samsung EVO SSD.

Nice one, that should be great. Now, what PSU would you get?

More for the TIM than the cooler ? A Hyper 212 will cost ya $30 with the TIM

You have plenty of room left in ya budget.

Corsair 500R- $80

XFX Core Edition 850 - $95 The 850 watts makes you ready for a 2nd 780 in the future in SLI..... You could drop to the 650 watter if sure you will never use more than at 1 card but what are yta saving..... $15 - 20 ?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Your MoBo / CPU - $385

Your Storage - $162

Your GFX Card - $475

Your Memory - $170 Could go slower and smaller but hesitate to recommend that since you didn't specify what ya going to do with it. To my mind, and extra $20 for 2400 over 1600 is well worth it. Fast memory comes in very handy for CAD, video editing, large spreadsheets, databases, CS6 etc but it also has an impact on gaming.

The oft quoted wisdom that it's "not worth the cost" comes from a day when 2400 was $100 more than 1600. But at $20 ?? While the increase is modest (0 - 5%) on average fps in most games, it does however have a bigger impact on minimum frame rates and more so in SLI/CF. In some games, the increase from 1600 to 2400 is as high as 11%. ....

So if you will be using any of those types of programs, or use any of the affected games (STALKER, F1, etc) , is that worth a 1% increase in system cost ? To my view, "in a heartbeat".

CPU Cooler - Phanteks PH-TC14-PE - $65
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Total $1432.

My two cents:

1) CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U12S
Yes, it's more money but worth it. It's dead silent in idle and barely audible under heavy load. The Hyper 212 EVO is okay but it is noisier as I could hear the fan under light load and you'll want to overclock that CPU.

The Noctua also includes the paste needed.

2) 8GB 1600MHz CAS9 (2x4GB)
I agree with this unless you are doing video editing, using VM's or some other demanding task that absolutely needs more than 8GB. If gaming does in few years by more memory.

3) *POWER SUPPLY*

WARNING: You want to get a Power Supply that specifies it supports the "C6/C7 Haswell (4th gen) power state". If you don't get such a power supply your system can CRASH when exiting the low power state. You can Google that.

Jack's response is great and I can verify that it is true. From going from 1600 MHz to 2133 MHz, in Battlefield 4 on Siege of Shanghai, I go from 50 fps average on Ultra to around 70.
