Hello,

I just picked up a Sonicwall TZ100 and put it in front of my wireless router. My home network is now: Surfboard modem > Sonicwall TZ100 > Archer C7 wireless router. I got everything configured (I'm somewhat familiar with Sonicwalls) but I'm missing something here... I have two pcs attached to the Sonicwall wired which my wireless laptops connecting to the Archer C7 cannot see, one of which is my home server. This was working when everything was connected to the Archer C7.

SO I have two possible solutions I can come up with.

1. Basically turn the Archer C7 into a dumb device that is just shouting out a wireless signal and use the DHCP / IP address scheme from the Sonicwall.
1A. Problem with this is when I turn DHCP off in the Archer C7, it doesnt automatically use the DHCP from the Sonicwall AND I cant find a setting in Archer C7 to bridge it.
1B. Maybe it doesnt have to be "bridged" in the Archer C7 but only enabled in the Sonicwall to have another router use its DHCP... Although if the Archer C7 were a dumb switch it would just work so thats probably not the issue...

2. Enable (or disable) a security setting that I'm completely overlooking in the Sonicwall to let the X0 port (LAN) communicate or share files the other ports.
2A. This seems like the more viable solution so if anyone knows what setting will let me view wired pcs on the Sonicwall from my wireless pcs connected to my Archer C7 and could let me know, that would be great!

Thanks!

Edit 1
Small moment of clarity...

I just remembered you can specify what port on the Sonicwall you want to be used for DHCP... Maybe if I specify which port (the port my wireless router is on), my Archer C7 will be able to use its DHCP... Not sure if it works with wireless though, it might just be for dumb / managed switches...

Solution
Turn off DHCP on the Archer and connect the cable from the Sonicwall to a LAN port on the Archer and not the WAN port. The Archer WAN port will not be used.

How would that work though... I wouldn't think it could work that way... I mean I'll try it but how would the Archer C7 get internet through a lan port, not the wan port?

Give me a second and I'll give this a shot...

That worked... I don't really get it... To be honest I was going to try this but I didnt, lol. Thanks though!

Its like you said in your option 1. In the Archer C7 there is a router/firewall, a 4 port switch, and a Wifi radio. By not using the WAN port you are bypassing the router/firewall and are just using the other 2 pieces, the switch and wifi radio.
