I am building my first pc, and I have started purchasing the parts, but a post I read about the i5 4690k freaked me out. It said that the i5 4690k was only compatible with certain motherboards. This is perplexing, and I am wondering is this true? I have already purchased my motherboard, but not the i5 4690k. I have purchased the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
(link http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz97... ).

So what do I do? I am in Canada, but I am ordering in the US and getting all my parts delivered to a shipping address there. Will the i5 4690k work with my motherboard, or do I have to get the i5 4670k?

Thank you

(btw my partpicker list is http://pcpartpicker.com/p/z6bMTW )

Sir, relax. Z97/H97 series mobos are all compatible with devil canyon and haswell refresh CPUs. Your mobo GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 is compatible with i5 4690k. No issue at all there.

Go ahead and install the CPU. Do post from your new build here :)

Also will I need to do a BIOS update, and if I do are there any sites that can walk me through it (I am new at building computers and messing with them, so I'd rather not mess my first build up.)

You won't need a BIOS update right away and it's easy , will be in the manual.
