Hi,

I have an old PC (about 4-5 years old) which just my video card just died. I am using a GA-EP45-DS3LR motherboard and with all the new video cards coming out (R9 series). Is there any equivalent video card that is still available? Preferably an ATI card and pretty low cost as possible.

Note: I will be planning to change my entire system in 2 years time. But however, i require a GPU replacement asap as a quick fix solution.

I think relative to more modern cards, a 7770/7790 would be close...

Thanks for the reply, i would take a look at those cards. But is there any website that is able to check which mother board is compatible video card? I think that is my greatest concern right now. :(

There are no compatibility problems as long as you get a pci-e card, the version won't matter. It's possible depending on how old your board is that you may need to update the bios.

A 7770 is comparable to two 4850s in crossfire, but there's no point in getting the 7000 series when there's no price advantage vs the newer models. You can get an r7 260x which is about twice as fast as your 4870 was and should run on the same power supply for about $100.

Thanks for the reply! I would try to find one in my country. Right now, i just tried to boot up my system (after taking out the video card and putting it back). I have encountered this problem as shown on the picture:

Is this caused by a burned video card or something else? As i do not have another video card to check if my current one is fried.

I would try that, but i would not be able to test the graphics as my current motherboard does not have an integrated video card.
