I need help getting my home network to work with switches. I will give you guys my set up below:
I recently networked my entire home. I have 3 bedrooms networked and the living room. All 4 go into the 4 ports in the router witch is in the basement.
The issue is, In the living room i have 4 devices that connect to the internet. So i have an 8 port switch in the living room, encase i need to connect more.
In my office, we have 3 computers that connect to the internet, and i have a 5 port switch in there.
These are unmanaged switches. The living room switch seems to work fine. However when i connect the upstairs switch, Port 1 light on the router turns off. This is the port that the cable runs up into the office.
Any idea's on what i should do here? When i plug a cable directly into the wall and than into one of the PC's it works great, however i need all 3 to have internet!
