I am planning on building a water-cooled PC and using a 780ti to power the Graphics, I was going to get a gpu off evga, msi, asus and convert it myself and overclock it accordingly, however I was wondering whether I should buy the cheapest one I could find convert it and overclock it and install MSI drivers on it, however are the actual chips and PCBs different accross brands or is it just a different cooler and clock speed.

Its personal preference really. If you are going water cooled then the acx, directcu, twinfrozr, etc coolers will be removed anyway. Find a water block for a 780ti, look at the compatible model numbers then you can literally choose the cheapest card. Since all manufacturers are gonna offer the same chip and you are over clocking yourself, then any extra boost a manufacturer offers will be rendered obsolete. Basically all your looking to buy is a PCB and chip. However you do want reliability on delivery.
