I'm going to be getting a new motherboard so i can go crossfire. I have a "SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 OC". I was wanting to crossfire it but i went onto new egg to find multiple people saying its fan is too big for crossfire(it takes up the second pcie slot). So i was wondering can i could crossfire it with a different thinner 280x? Then i'll put the thin one ontop and the thicker one under so it doesn't cause any problems. Will this work? Thanks

Yes you can. The higher performing card's speed will be reduced to match the lower performing card.

Also i should add. Is that statement about the cards true if anyone knows? That they wont crossfire because of being too big. The motherboard is going to be an "MSI Z97-G55 SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard".

You will not find any single slot R9 280X. What motherboard are you getting? Or do you have?

Is your PSU good enough? Exact model?

I highly doubt they won't crossfire together but I'll look into it.

Sorry i don't quite understand your first sentence(i'm a noob). Motherboard is the "MSI Z97-G55 SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard". The PSU will be a 1000w EVGA supernova 80 plus gold.

You can crossfire your dual x's.

The motherboard and PSU you selected will work fine for both of them, though you could get away with a 850W PSU.
