Loud GPU and possibility of upgrading?

Hi,

I am currently having serious sound issues with my GPU with temperatures reaching anywhere between 85-100°C while gaming which is causing the fan to become extremely noisy and often distracting.

I have tried reapplying the thermal paste in hopes that this would reduce the GPU temperature and fan speed but this was not successful.

I have also been considering purchasing a new case but am hesitant as I have read that the XPS 8300 motherboard may have issues fitting into certain cases.

Firstly, I'd like to know if my motherboard will be an issue when trying to find a new case and would a new case potentially reduce the temperature of my GPU while gaming?
One particular case I was looking at was: http://www.ebuyer.com/510496-cooler-master-n-series-n400-usb-3-0-atx-case-nse-400-kkn1 or perhaps: http://www.ebuyer.com/409943-corsair-carbide-series-200r-compact-atx-case-black-cc-9011023-ww

Would my motherboard be compatible with this particular case? If so, would this case be any improvement or are there others that you would recommend?

Secondly, while I'm at it, I've recently been looking at upgrading my PC but as I've only ever purchased Dell PCs, I have no idea where I should start :??:

Looking at my specs, are there any particularly poor areas? Which areas would I see the greatest improvements with the lowest costs?

My specs are:
CPU
Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3.40GHz

RAM
6.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz

Motherboard
Dell Inc. 0Y2MRG (XPS 8300?)

Graphics
1024MB ATI Radeon HD 5770

As I said, I've only ever bought ready-made PCs so sorry if I have made any outrageous mistakes and any input would be extremely helpful :)

Thank you!

Edit: These are the issues I was referring to with regards to the case http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/341842-28-will-dell-8300-transplant-case

Edit 2: Here is an image identical to my case now http://zapp0.staticworld.net/reviews/graphics/products/uploaded/dell_xps_8300_788982_g3.jpg

Your GPU is pretty low end,and i never heard of a XPS 8300 motherboard,i think that you computer case, playing games on high settings and resolutions may cause your GPU to overheat, since you didnt give me anything specific,i cant say what sort of cooling do you have on you graphics card. The case inside the link you sent is ok and will most likley fit all of your parts.Download Speccy and send me your full PC SPECS,so i can have another look.

I updated my specs slightly with a motherboard number and as for cooling on my graphics card, the inside of my PC is identical to this layout: http://zapp0.staticworld.net/reviews/graphics/products/uploaded/dell_xps_8300_788982_g3.jpg

Do you think using a different case would help with my temperature issues?

OK,as far as a suggested upgrade goes,i would recommend you update you Graphics Card,to something newer, try the R9 series(Personal suggestion : R9 265 2GB or R9 270X 2GB).Your CPU is awesome no need to upgrade, maybe if you can upgrade your ram to 12GB.Your motherboard is very strange to me as i have never seen it before so i am not sure if you can upgrade your ram or not,you should be able.Wait a bit see some more opinions, your motherboard should fit in the case nicley, but dont take my word for it,see some more opinions and then decide.

Getting a new case won't helpw the situation since the graphics card is old. Upgrading to a newer graphics card will help significantly. My GT 240 was running at or above 80ºC to run modern games.

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19424840.aspx it looks like the case can fit a 9 inch ish video card

Power supply needed for the newer video card: www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-ATX-550-Power-Supply/dp/B004RJ8EKI/

Newer video card: www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Dual-X-Radeon-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00FL8H49Q

size spec on the newer video card: 8.98" x 4.29" Card Dimensions (L x H)

Thank you :)

So you're saying that the graphics card is the issue?

If I were to purchase a new graphics card, my issue would be resolved?

Could you recommend any graphics cards that would not require me to purchase a new power supply?

You do have a PCI-E 6 pin connector right?

Safer in terms of power supply:

www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-OC-1059MHz-DL-DVI-D-Graphics/dp/B00I5ZYI5A

Riskier in terms of power supply but I have personal experience with it and it is way way cheaper: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=260x
